What We Do
The Launch Project based in Swinton Manchester, aims at creating a healthier, happier community.
We cover all Greater Manchester with our events, workshops and poverty support. Founded in 2012 The Launch Project was a direct result of The Community Christmas Dinner, a simple initiative providing free Christmas Dinners on Christmas Day to anyone who was lonely, isolated, or struggling for whatever reason at Christmas.
Our events now include a monthly Sunday Social which is attended by a very diverse community of all age ranges, with transport provided for those with mobility issues. We enjoy dancing, team games and raffles. Our attendees come from Eccles, Swinton, Salford, Walkden, Bolton and Manchester.
We also hold several family events, from community Easter parties to family fun days throughout the summer across Greater Manchester. Our aim is to provide as many low cost or free events as possible to reduce the financial impact on families.
The Launch Project collects unsold food from retailers and distributes it to families who are living in poverty, families fleeing domestic violence and various homeless groups in Manchester and Salford. This allows us to support as many vulnerable people as possible in the local community.
We also provide various volunteering opportunities; all our volunteers receive full training including a volunteer handbook and DBS check. We believe in personal development and skill enhancement through offering different roles and support to our volunteers.
